I’m Jenny, your Kentucky Farm Sitter. I’m a life-long resident of central Kentucky, and have worked in the horse industry since 1989:

• at several prominent Bluegrass area breeding farms, including six years as a foaling attendant.

• at the sales, including all Keeneland and Fasig Tipton sales, plus international sales.

• as a vet tech for a major equine clinic.  Positions included ICU attendant and surgery assistant, daily care of equine patients, and administration of medications and wound care.

• on the racetrack as an exercise rider, groom, and pony rider.

My skills include many areas of horse care:

Turn out/bring up
Handling yearlings, including sales prep
Handling mares and foals
Handling pregnant mares
Foaling mares
Knowledge and administration of medications
Extensive knowledge of bandaging and hoof packs
Wound care
Identifying colic, lameness, choke, etc.
Stall cleaning and barn upkeep, watering off, etc.

Over the past 20 years, I have sat for farms ranging in size from two horses to 50+ mares and foals. I am highly observant and tend to spot problems quickly.  I know how to deal with many issues, but I also know when a vet is needed.

There is no worse feeling than worrying about your animals when you’re out of town.  I want you to feel confident that your horses are in competent hands.  When you know that someone is on duty who cares about your horses (and dogs and cats,  assorted barn critters) like you do, you can relax.  In the 24/7 world of horse ownership, that’s priceless.
